Good day everyone, please i want to know the importance of GOC over GMDSS certificate. I got my GMDSS certificate by January and i applied for the GOC exams by Febuary. I passed every test during the GOC except the practical test which means i have to do the practical test again and at the cost of 450$. At the moment i dont have the money and iam considering not doing the test for now, will the GOC stop me from getting employed as a 3rd Mate? I have every necessary documents except the GOC. Is the GOC a compulsory document for deck Officers? Please i need answers from you guys. Thanks in advance

CaptSabi I am assuming you have completed GMDSS Restricted Operator's Certificate (ROC) which is appropriate to ships sailing exclusively in areas covered by VHF coast stations. In case you don't want to be bound by this restriction, you need to complete GOC
