Engineer capacity - Vs engines kW ratings

Hi, Can anyone advise if an engineer certification capacity on board vessel with multiple propulsion engines (i.e 3000 kW certification capacity) maximum, does this indicate for each single diesel engine, or for all engines total for propulsion.

P.S I am working on board a vessel that has multiple marine diesel engines, 2000 kW each - My certification allows 3000 kW capacity. Am I ok to engineer this vessel (How does the engine rating work in with engineer certification capacity? This totals 6000 kW engines kW maximum.

jasemcl@yahoo.com.au Please check as the 3000KW is for propulsion plant. The marine diesel engines you are talking about, are those are propulsion engines?
